It is something that a lot of people struggle with every day. Venturing off into a new dream or finally begin following a long-felt passion, and as progression begins in the journey, the stretching does follows suit.
Everywhere you look, people are reaching, and stretching into what is their new found identities, roles, and responsibilities. All the while, they are being pulled in the opposite direction by family members, friends, and all of those who knew them ‘way back when.’ In the pulling, they are constantly reminded of who they were, what they were, and what they used to do.

Then the dreaded statement comes from their mouths:Â “You’ve changed.”

This often results in a struggle to subconsciously feel the need to prove something—to behave or otherwise respond in a confirming way. It becomes a must to prove they are still the same person and that they haven’t changed.

What To Do When Someone Says You’ve Changed
In life, change is constant, and growth is essential. Without it, there would be no evolution in the world. None of the great visionaries, personalities and enterprises that we have all come to love would ever exist. Those people had to go through the same growing pains, the same battle. And because they made a commitment to let themselves go and press forward into their new identities, they fulfilled their destinies. What To Do When Someone Says You’ve ChangedÂ
So I ask you: are you still holding on to your old self? And if so, why? If you are striving to reach a dream or a goal, the only way to achieve it—just like all of the great ones before you—is to let yourself—the old you—go. Get it in your mind that it is perfectly okay to hear, see, believe, and behave differently as you travel along on the path to achieving your dreams and goals. In fact, it is one of the tell-tale sign of true personal growth.

If you are stretching yourself between ‘how it used to be’ and ‘how it is,’ there is no better time than now to put it to an end. Release the old you to the wind! If those around you cannot accept you as you are now, release them, too!! Never be ashamed of your progression, and keep proudly moving forward into all that you are striving to be!

And the next time someone says, “You’ve changed” respond like this:
“Hey: it is what it is.”

You’ve taken leaps and bounds to go after your dreams, whether its marriage or children, or writing a book and sometimes friends or people in your life assume that you can still do what you were doing when you didn’t have those new things in your life. Its hard to make someone understand that you’ve changed because you wanted to. I don’t think… Read more »
