A while back I talked about how my backyard is in desperate need of a makeover. While I was excited about planning and creating a new outdoor oasis for myself and my family, my husband decided that he did not want to invest a lot of money into renovating our yard since we will (hopefully) be moving within the next few years.

Bummer. 🙁

Although he had a good point, I still truly desire a place in the yard where I can go to relax. And since I cannot have the backyard paradise that I want, I am okay with settling for a small area that I can consider as my very own mini backyard retreat. And now that spring is finally here, it is the perfect time to make my dream a reality.
I currently have my sights set on out back porch. It has not been touched since we moved in nearly twenty years ago, and could really be a really great spot for hanging out and enjoying the outdoors.

This space is a total blank slate. It could benefit from some TLC! I would love to turn it into a mini backyard retreat and make the space much more inviting by adding a few decorative flower boxes. I would also like to bid adieu to the drab stool and replace it with a lush, comfortable chair.

Just like with my indoor renovation, I like to search the web to gather ideas and styling themes that are in accordance with my vision for the space. Since I am usually a one-stop shopper, I chose the At Home Store as my source for this latest home upgrade. At Home has lots of textured rugs, planters, lighting, and other outdoor décor that I am sure will transform my space perfectly!

Perusing At Home’s website as well as HGTV’s Spring House website lit the fire within me that I needed to feel inspired to get started with my mini backyard retreat project! I have made my project folder of measurements, photo ideas, and possible themes, and I cannot wait to take a trip to gather inspiration from At Home’s more than 50,000 unique items! I will keep you posted!
