TV One Original Film #ChasingWaterfalls Inspired by the Book of David
If staying in is a part of your Mother’s Day plans, be sure to tune into TV One’s New Original Film Chasing Waterfalls.
Following last year’s success of To Hell and Back – an original film based on the Book of Job and For the Love of Ruth, an updated interpretation of the Book of Ruth, TV One tells another powerful and positive biblical story with their latest contemporary Biblical production Chasing Waterfalls. Inspired by the Book of David, the movie navigates the treacherous, cutthroat waters of the fashion industry while gently teaching viewers about obedience, faithfulness and God’s grace.
Written by Rhonda F. Baraka and directed by Ryan Richmond, Chasing Waterfalls follows the journey of Olivia, a God-fearing woman and an aspiring fashion designer, who is striving for success while working for Salma Barrie (Jasmine Guy, A Different World, Vampire Diaries), the owner of a once fruitful, eponymous clothing brand. As she jumps at the opportunity to become the new fashion “It Girl,” Olivia must balance her family responsibilities, especially the caring of her aging father Quincy (Tim Reid, Sister, Sister, Treme) and troublesome sister Coco (Kisa Willis, Precious). As the pressure mounts, Olivia hides behind her faith and is ultimately brought down by her greed and quest for power.

“Chasing Waterfalls, our third installment of modern-day adaptions of biblical stories, puts a contemporary and feminine spin on a powerful biblical tale,” said D’Angela Proctor, TV One’s SVP of Programming and Production. “This film illustrates TV One’s brand promise to represent all facets of Black culture. It is a modern-day telling of the centuries-old tale of moral seduction, ambition and power and reminds us all of what it truly means to have faith.”
