Summer Vacation Travel: How To Be Ready for Anything

Summer vacation travel with family can be one of the best experiences of the entire year! To ensure that everyone from parents to children have the best time possible, planning is definitely essential. However, being someone who travels with their family quite often, I can attest to the fact that when it comes to summer vacation travel, you have to be ready for anything. Unexpected events can happen no matter how much planning takes place or how much effort goes into keeping everyone safe.

A parent or grandparent may have an unexpected slip or fall. Children may suddenly become ill. While these types of things are possible and may even be unavoidable, having measures in place to help afterwards will ease the amount of stress and strain and minimize the amount of interruption on family time.

Individual accident insurance is a great way to be financially prepared for the medical and out-of-pocket expenses that add up so quickly after accidental injuries and trips to the emergency room. If illness or injury happens to you or a member of your family while on vacation, accident insurance can cover many of the expenses that may not be covered by your traditional medical insurance – from concussions and lacerations, to ambulatory trips to the emergency room.

Individual accident insurance is not just for help with emergency treatment, hospital stays and medical exams during family vacation. It is also for other expenses that may result too, such as transportation and lodging needs. Plus, with coverage plans such as those offered by Aflac, cash payments are sent directly and promptly. That means less worries about taking money away from vacation expenses, having the peace of mind that everything is taken care of to get you or your loved one back to better health.

It is true that there is a lot to do when planning summer vacation travel. You have to make the reservations, map out itineraries, and above all, ensure that everyone has a good time. Having the added security of individual accident insurance provides the freedom of focusing on the fun of family vacation, knowing that you will be ready for anything that may arise.

Only 38 percent of respondents in a recent Bankrate.com survey said they could cover an unexpected expense, such as an emergency room visit, with cash they have on hand in a savings account or checking account. Make sure your family is covered for such expenses during summer vacation travel by visiting Aflac’s website for more information and on the variety of insurance plans available. You can also connect with Aflac on Facebook.

We have health insurance, so we are covered if anything should happen. We are good to go on our trip tomorrow 🙂

We’ve traveled a lot over the years, but we only recently started getting insurance for our travels. You never know what could happen!

Melissa Pezza

We never go on a trip without travel insurance. It’s impossible to know the future, and anything could happen.

Kecia

I have never considered accident insurance when traveling. I am sure it could come in handy though, especially if there’s an injury while you are in an unfamiliar city!

Insurance that protects you during travel is so important. My doctor had to go to the doctor while on vacation and it was really great that we had insurance.

Debbie

That is interesting. I never thought much about individual insurance.

You never can be too careful, especially when it comes to being away from home. I think it is wise to be prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.

Great photos! how fun. Im lucky to be in Canada where we don’t really need to worry about much health insurance but this is great for those in the USA who need it! Aflac duck is my fave.

It is sad that we will not be taking a vacation this summer. Beautiful pictures of your family summer fun

We have been pretty lucky with our health during vacations, but it just isn’t worth risking. I like to know I’m safe.

I think insurance is a good idea. I like to travel but we haven’t yet this summer.

Debra

I’ve never thought about vacation/accident insurance. It would be a good thing to have, especially if you’re doing an activity or camping based vacation. Accidents are sure to happen there!

Although it wasn’t during summer travel, my grandfather was injured at work and Aflac really came thru for them.
