I cannot believe that my youngest daughter Lady T will be turning the big 13 this winter! It has been eight whole years since I’ve had a pre-teen girl in the house. But that doesn’t mean that I do not remember all of the things that come with teen-dom. Issues such as appearance, self-esteem,  self-confidence are extremely important to girls her age.

 

As my baby girl enters the new chapter of junior high and high school life with new friends and new adventures, I want to make sure she has the highest level of confidence possible. I want everything about her to be at its best. Including her smile.

When I noticed that Lady T was in need of braces, I panicked. At first, I could only think about the traditional metal braces and everything that comes along with them. I could totally hear not-so-kind classmates calling her “brace face” and “metal mouth.” Such an experience can have a very negative impact on her emotional wellness–I certainly do not what I want for my baby.
