Music Monday: Stop Being Hot And Bothered: Relax And Keep Looking

relax-and-keep-looking #keeplooking #musicmondays“Don’t lay awake at night thinking about your worries, thinking about your problems.

Don’t lay awake at night thinking about your worries — keep looking.”

This is the words of advice I am giving to you in this moment.

Did you know that this month (April) is National Stress Awareness Month? Because of the world feeding us a non-stop stream on information and issues, it can sometimes be difficult to decipher what is truly a ‘problem’ in our lives and what is not. Sometimes we take every piece of information given to us as being a priority, which along with our goals, daily tasks, and ‘to-do’ lists ignites our emotions and pushes our minds into a state of overload. The biggest problem of this is that it wounds up being in that state all of the time.

.Relax And Keep Looking

Bedtime is a time for rest—for the body as well as the mind and spirit. If we go to bed with all of the day’s events on our minds: the bills, the disagreement with our boss, the cruel remark a stranger said to us, the disobedient and defiant acts of our children, a deadline on a project, etc., we rob ourselves of taking total advantage of that sacred time. That is definitely not a good thing to do. Bedtime thoughts carry over into dreams, which carry over into the next day (which affects our emotions for the day), and so on.

Question to you: do you take a few moments before bedtime to do a complete ‘brain-dump?’

 .Relax And Keep Looking

That is, do you schedule time before you get into the bed to distress—to remove all of your problems and worries from your mind? Do you take time to ‘lay it down and leave it’ for another day before you begin to rest?

 .Relax And Keep Looking

If not, you need to begin doing so now.

 .Relax And Keep Looking

Make a commitment to dedicate 15-20 minutes prior to your bedtime—and even 5-10 minutes throughout the day—to clear your mind through deep breathing and meditation. Know that answers to problems never have—and never will—lie in the midst of being heated, stressed out, or bothered. But rather, the guidance needed to go in the right direction always only appears while searching in moments of mental and emotional rest.
