Air shows are one of the many family-themed events that I look forward to each summer! This year, we launched our high-flying summer of fun by spending the day at the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo.

There were so many things to see and do on the even grounds! There were tons of interactive games for kids and adults of all ages. There was even a rock climbing wall for a cash prize! Plus, there was a huge array of military and civilian demonstrations and static airplane displays that were mind-blowing to see up-close!

We were hoping for warm weather for the event. However, anyone who lives in St. Louis can attest to the fact that the mother nature can be totally unpredictable when it comes to the ‘Show Me’ state! The temperatures were cool (borderline cold) and the winds were high. Luckily, there was a Hills Bros.® coffee truck on location loaded with plenty of freshly-brewed coffee to keep me warm!

I was surprised to see that their single-serve coffee also has the world’s first certified 100% compostable single-serve pod! Knowing that the ring, label, filter and brewed coffee grounds will all revert to soil when composted, instead of piling up in landfills means that I can enjoy the sample cups of coffee at the truck (and even my morning cup of coffee) completely guilt-free! What a wonderful way for me to brew and renew during the show!

The temperatures rose by only a few degrees just in time for the main event (and the one that we were waiting on) the US Navy Flight Demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels! My kids and were so excited to watch all of their feats! We are always amazed at how skillful and talented they are!

The Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo was the perfect way to start our family summer activities! Albeit cold, I’m glad that the skies were clear and sunny for great visibility for all of the flight demonstrations! Most importantly, I’m extremely glad that fun was had by all!

It looks like you guys had an amazing time. I love airshows, but I never watch the live stuff. All I can think about is witnessing a crash.
My husband loves air shows, there is one near us. This sounds like it would be a lot of fun to go to.
Air shows are so cool! Their formations are always impressive! It’s great that they had some delicious coffee for everyone!

This is a complete flashback for me. My Grandparents used to live in San Francisco and drink Hills Bros coffee. What a great outing.
We have a local air show that we go to every year. One of the best parts is checking out all of the vendors.
How fun is that! I remember going to watch the planes take off when I was a kid. My kids haven’t had anything like that with all of the regulations at airports. This would be a fun way to check out our aviation history up close.
Wow, what an amazing air show! I’ve been a fan of airplanes ever since I was a kid and I can see that look in my son’s eyes! Hope that we can witness this event someday.
