Skip Marley Grandson of Bob Marley on the Soul Nurturing Power of Music
Music – in any form – takes us all back to places tied to many emotions. We likely remember the songs’ impact, where we were and who we were with, when listening to certain songs and melodies.
Music has been shown to increase performance and stamina during exercise as well as improve the mood by modifying brain waves, while activities in natural settings and exposure to nature have important stress reducing and restorative effects on the mind and body.
To discuss how incorporating fitness and nurturing music can be beneficial to overall health, I spoke with two-time Grammy© nominated artist Skip Marley, grandson of the legendary Bob Marley and son of longtime Jamaican singer, producer, and actress Cedella Marley.
“Music is freedom for me,” says the 26-year-old performer. “I want people to just feel the music and let it be anything they want to make of it.”

On a mission to spread the message in in today’s hectic world that “The unification of mankind has to start now,” Skip released his song, “Change (Today)” in April of this year. He is currently recharging in preparation for the second leg of his tour (titled, ‘The Change Tour’), that will start in September.
Joining Skip was his friend Kathryn Leary, co-founder of OneFirelight, a subscription-based inspirational wellness platform.
