An important new tool offering parents of special needs children a way to access support and the latest news and information in the special needs community is now available.
The Special Moms Network, a growing online community created by two NY moms of special needs children to provide a vital resource for parents of special needs children worldwide, has launched a multi-faceted new website: www.SpecialMomsNetwork.com.
“Our goal in creating the Special Moms Network was to provide a forum for the hundreds of thousands of moms who are not only looking for information to help their children, but to give them a forum in which they can help each other through the power of the Internet,” said Susan Kleiman, co-founder of the network and mom of a special needs child.
The Special Moms Network website provides moms of special needs children with access to thousands of programs and services for those with special needs from infancy through adulthood and a searchable database of companies and products serving the needs of individuals with disabilities. In addition, the site contains the latest news in the special needs community, and provides a forum for parents to gain important insight from leading professionals and other “special moms.” In conjunction with the website, the group also runs a Special Moms Network Facebook page that provides a 24/7 resource for moms of special needs children worldwide.
“As the number of special needs children throughout the world continues to rise, more parents are turning to the Internet for information, support and answers when it comes to ways to help their children,” says Dana DeRuvo Hanner, R.N., co-founder of the Special Moms Network, longtime pediatric nurse and author of the book The Ties That Bind: One Family’s Journey of Compassion with a Special Needs Child.
The Network has already grown to thousands of members – and continues to grow each day as more moms tap into this online resource that fills a great need for information and support as parents of special needs children.
