My Weight Loss Journey Mission 24/7: Starting Weight And Kickoff Fail

my weight loss journey mission 24 7 melisasource

I was so excited to begin my Mission 24/7 weight loss journey.

I bought the items I needed to start it off with an internal body cleanse. I mapped out a meal plan. I created a list of ‘do’s and don’ts for snacks and eating times. I did all of that.

I was doing so well. Then about two days into the mission, this happened:

.

The above is fluid leaking out of my car as a result of a serious breakdown.

.

Later that evening, I ate an entire extra-large pizza and an order of chicken wings.

!!!!!!!!!!

It was not until afterwards that the light bulb went off: I am an emotional eater.

When I’m stressed, I eat.

When I’m depressed, I eat.

When I’m angry, I eat.

…and when I’m happy, I celebrate by: eating.

My Weight Loss Journey

If I’m going to reach my weight loss goals, I now see that it’s going to take much more than watching what I eat and exercising. I have to work on being more aware of the moments when a desire to eat is triggered by how I am feeling. I have to buckle down and come up with some alternative (and healthier) options to comfort myself outside of food.

So in other words, no more ‘comfort food’:

.

.

I really want to be healthy. So that means changing bad habits. It’s going to be hard for me since I’ve been doing it for so long, but I know that I can overcome it.

Now, with that being said, here is my starting weight:

I also discovered that I love rewards. So I plan to use that as momentum to steer clear of emotional eating. For every week that I get through without caving in to eating out of emotions, I will give myself a small reward. It may sound a little childish, but I know that it will work for me. I’ll be keeping track on my desk calendar daily.

So, that’s my check-in so far. In my next update, I’ll share some of the food products that I’m using so far, and how they are working for me.

One small delay does not mean total denial! I can do this! πŸ™‚

I am an emotional eater and one of the biggest things that has helped me is not buying any of my “favorite” munchies foods. If I want a bag of chips or an ice cream or pizza I have to physically go out and get it. I also refuse to call in take. I make myself drive and wait as a deterrent to go ahead and eat something healthy and I always make sure the first thing I buy when I shop are healthy snack options to fill my fridge and cabinet with. I wish you luck on your journey… Read more »

I am an emotional eater and have been for a long time. I used myfitnesspal when I wanted to lose weight. It was the only way I could hold myself accountable and it helped me determine if what I was eating or not was in my calorie budget.

Really brave to share all of this honesty here. I understand where you are coming from with emotional eating. I am similar. My motivation for working out, eating right, and just being healthy is very tied up in my current emotional state. Some things that work for me: -Daily meal plan and never be hungry. If I get hungry, I go hunting for carbs and it’s all downhill from there. -Drink water early in the day. Gets me hydrated and feeling better. -Daily/Weekly workout plan. When I am on a workout routine, I focus on eating better for recovery to… Read more »
