Music Mondays: Bidding Adieu: Encourage Yourself To Do It
Just five more weeks left in 2012. As I think about how fast this year seems to have gone by, I want to ask you to take a brief look back over the past 11 months. I also want you to think back on the 11 months prior to that.
.
As you reflect, are you noticing any similarities? Did it occur to you that some of the situations, environments, things, and even people that bred negativity or caused you frustration in 2011 are still present in your life at this very moment? Remember how you made those resolutions at the beginning of 2011—and then again at the beginning of 2012—to rid yourself of them?
.
Yet everything is still right there in your life.
.
My question for you is: Why?
.
Maybe you held on because you thought that you could rely on things to change. Or maybe you thought that holding on proved your strength.
.
But when you’re honest with yourself, what did it prove, and who did it prove it to?
.
Hmmmmm………definitely food for thought.
..
Reflect on this photo for a moment:
.
.
See, sometimes the power is not in holding on against all odds, or fighting with all you have to achieve victory. Sometimes, your greatest power is in seeing the situation, thing, environment or relationship for exactly what it is and walking away; understanding that no matter what you try to change, the situation itself never will.
Staying in a situation or environment or keeping an item or relationship in your life whose use has run its course is not very beneficial, nor is it healthy. In such times, letting go and moving on is the best answer. Sure, it may hurt—it may even take some time—but after you have gotten over it and through it you will look back on it and see how helpful bidding adieu was and much time was wasted in trying to hold on. You will also be forever grateful for your exit.
.
You have all that you need within you to move forward, so what are you waiting for? There are only a few weeks left in this year: do not go into 2013 without doing some personal assessments, making some necessary changes, and severing ties to any situation, thing, environment, or even relationship that is not giving your life joy and helping you to grow into all that you are purposed to be.
.
As the old saying goes, “Whatever is not helping you is only hurting you.” Now is the time to do what is needed to get rid of the hurt and set the wheels into motion for a more balanced and fulfilling state of being.
.
Go on – get bold and encourage yourself to “bid it all adieu!”

This was a good article. I agree that sometimes you need to know when to let go and move on! It reminds me of the old song, “You’ve got to know when to walk away and know when to run.” As usual you put a great spin on an idea and had the music to back you up!
I love her takes on Music Monday!

Can we say fly on the wall?!?!? While I was away, I realized that some of the things I was sweating just were not worth the anguish. This makes me realize that I have to rethink some things I thought made me me. Excellent post.
