Lecrae’s New Book and Album Inspires to Break Barriers About Faith, Healing and Restoration
Lecrae has always been known for his authenticity and his commitment to inspiring others. Now, he is taking his purpose-driven career to new levels with his upcoming book, I Am Restored: How I Lost My Religion but Found My Faith.
The Grammy award-winning hip-hop artist, entrepreneur, speaker, thought leader, philanthropist, and author Lecrae Moore has signed a contract with Zondervan, the world leading Bible publisher and provider of Christian communications. The book is scheduled to be released on October 13, 2020.
In his first book, the New York Times bestseller Unashamed, Lecrae was transparent about adversities experienced in his life—childhood abuse, drugs, alcoholism, a stint in rehab, abortion, growing up fatherless, and an unsuccessful suicide attempt. In I Am Restored, Lecrae shares how growing stronger in his faith has helped him create transformation in the lives of others.
In the book, Lecrae bares his soul, sharing deep wounds, past trauma, and conflicts with family, church, and personal challenges. It is his hope that his candid and heartfelt testimony of his journey of faith, and healing will help others in their own process of restoration.
“My forthcoming album, Restoration, chronicles the process of healing, and my book, I Am Restored, is about the journey toward healing,” says Lecrae. “My prayer is that I Am Restored will inspire readers to embrace the freedom and healing they need and to escape the despair, anxiety, doubt, and fear so many of us battle.”
“We need more artists willing to break barriers like Lecrae,” says Mick Silva, Senior Acquisitions Editor, Zondervan Books. “His story of allowing trauma and deep personal struggles to break the barriers within himself ultimately shows where his deep faith comes from. I believe his voice could be prophetic for our time.”
In addition to earning accolades for his musical talent, Lecrae has gained wide recognition for maintaining a strong commitment to his faith and values. “More caught than taught” is how the artist describes his incredible journey. With seven studio albums and multiple mixtapes, Lecrae is now nearing the 2 million mark in sales.
He won a Dove Award for Album of the Year in 2019 for his collaboration with Atlanta producer Zaytoven entitled, ‘Let the Trap Say Amen,’ and has been the recipient of multiple honors including: Billboard Music Award, multiple BET Hip-Hop nominations, Soul Train Music Award, and Dove Awards and even an Honorary Doctor of Music to go along with his two Grammy wins.
Along with earning two Grammy awards, Lecrae also has a history-making #1 and RIAA Gold certified album, Anomaly, the masterful 2014 offering which topped Billboard’s coveted Top 200 Albums chart. His New York Times bestseller, Unashamed, was released in 2016. Even with all his accolades, he humbly acknowledges the importance of healing and restoration.
“Rewind 2 years ago. I was self-absorbed. Depressed and lost,” says Lecrae. “It’s amazing what going through the process of healing can do. My smiles are [now] genuine, and my restoration is real. In the end, the only L I took was a lesson. The testing of your faith builds endurance.”
Lecrae’s 9th studio album, Restoration, releases Spring 2020.
