Music Mondays: Kirk Franklin Declares to Destroy the Defeated Mindset
This is the first of what will be a new installment entitled, “Music Mondays.” Stay tuned as every week I will be posting a song that embodies the principles of this site: Motivation, Encouragement, Life, Inspiration, and Self-Awareness.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a HUGE lover of music and how much of a role it plays in my everyday life. I breathe it, speak it, live it—and even though I cannot carry a note in a suitcase, I have no shame in belting out lyrics in my car or around the house in pure Roseanne fashion! 🙂
When I am down, music lifts me up. When I am up, music lifts me even higher. No matter the genre, I know that whatever place or position I find myself in life I can always think of a corresponding song that when played, feels like it was written for my exact moment, my exact emotion. I could go on and on, but bottom line, music is very powerful—and I am so happy to be sharing my love of music with you!
.
I am also happy to share songs that I have found to be great for getting to a positive state of mind. This first song that I have chosen the song “This is It” by Kirk Franklin. It is so powerful to me. The lyrics do not sugar-coat life’s situations. Instead, it addresses them as they are, speaks directly to them, and declares that submission to them is not an option—that this is a new day and reclamation is in order.
“You think that maybe it’s over
(Your life ain’t over)
Not unless you want it to be-
Are you waiting for a sign—your miracle?
It’s time to stand up and fight…”
