January is packed with new beginnings. The start of a new year, the start of a new school semester, starting fresh with new routines and resolutions to live happier, healthier lives.
My family made great progress in living a healthier lifestyle last year. We are committed to carrying the momentum into the new year. We are in the beginning stages of building a home gym to help us exercise more, and we have switched to an all-natural diet. With the new school semester starting, we figured it would be a great opportunity to rethink and reenergize our nutrition, and to take our healthy eating resolution beyond the home and stick to our commitment even while at school and on the go.
We are starting with lunches and snacks. This semester, we resolve to prepare lunches and snacks before the school week begins. Not only will this save time in the morning but it ensures only healthy food is included in the lunch box. Since we know that impact that eating healthy, nutritious foods throughout the day has both emotionally and physically, we want to make sure that we stick to this new years’ resolution as the months go on.
Our household’s ‘lunch box resolution’ is to always keep a record of what we are including in everyone’s lunch boxes, and to ditch the unhealthy foods and instead pack foods that are better for the lunch box. Great lunchbox brands like Del Monte®, Pepperidge Farm®, Welch’s®, Diamond Foods, NatureSmart, Saputo®,and Musco® Olives are not only healthier options but also ones that are sure to satisfy the hungriest of tummies at lunchtime. In fact, including Del Monte® fruit for lunch is a great way to ensure my family is getting the nutrients they need without paying double or more for the same quantity of fresh fruit. It’s a win-win.
With changes in schedules and commitments as the new school session begins, I am glad that one of our commitments is staying the same. Continuing healthy eating and getting the nutrition we need both in and out of the home is a wonderful way to practice a healthy lifestyle in the months ahead.
