Are you (already) finding it hard to stick to your 2017 healthy eating goals? If the answer is yes, you’re not alone.
Recent research from the Statistic Brain Institute revealed that almost a third of people drop their resolutions after two weeks. By mid-January the plans for self-improvement, working out or even eating healthier are history. But Why?
The answer may lie in lack of variety when it comes to food choices. Apples, Celery and carrot sticks are great, but let’s face it: it’s usually only a matter of time before we desire a wider variety of foods with more flavor. And when that times comes, we’re stumped on what to do next to keep our healthy eating plan in order.
“Honestly, I think people just really don’t keep it interesting enough,” says Certified Personal Trainer and Weight Loss Expert, Liz Josefsberg. “They get very bored with what they’re eating, they don’t know how to find new resources and new recipes and new go-to favorites and they don’t know how to substitute things. So when a craving hits or temptations lands, they don’t know how to satisfy that and when they fall off, they feel like it’s over and they can’t get back on. So I think boredom is a huge piece of this.”

The good news is that there is hope. It doesn’t have to be that way, especially when it comes to healthier food choices. There are a ton of delicious meals that are also healthy for you. These great “crave buster” ideas can help satisfy your taste buds and keep you on track through the entire year.
So, you love Alfredo? No problem, you can still enjoy the creaminess and delicious flavor by subbing traditional sauces and using zoodles instead of pasta for a dish that’s flavor-forward but with lower calories and fat.
And that’s just one option – the possibilities are endless!

“Keeping it interesting while keeping it healthy is really the key to consistency, which is the key to long-term success,” said Liz.
I spoke one-on-one with Liz about how to keep healthier meals and snacks interesting. Liz also gave tips on how to bust those sweet and salty cravings, healthier food options that are more accessible and affordable, and last-minute “crave buster” options for your Super Sunday festivities.
