Last week I was in Houston Texas for a few days and even though my schedule was extremely tight and hectic, I was determined to sneak off for some fun on the sunny beaches of Galveston! So what did I do? The second that I found a free moment I jumped in my rental car and hit the road to the Gulf—and I enjoyed every minute of it!! 😀 As great of a time as it was, it was not long before duty called and I had to return back to Houston. 🙁 Nevertheless, it was a great experience and a wonderful way to spend part of 11-11-11! I thought I’d share some photos with you of my journey in the Gulf. Enjoy!

Arriving in Galveston

The structure hiding behind the house is a church. I wanted to take a better photo of it, but there’s no such thing as “pulling over to the side” in Galveston! 😀

Once I did a little sight-seeing in town, I could not wait to get on the beach!

The waves were a little rough that day!

Poor birdie—I was hoping he did not get swept away! Lol

Here are some photos of me just being me! 🙂

Notice the wind blowing my hair all over my head!! 😀

.Then I got the dreaded call that it was time to go. I departed just in time to catch the sunset.

How beautiful!

……..but not before leaving my “mark” 😉

Taking a break from it all to spend some time on the beach was the best decision I made! Not only did it help me to de-stress, but watching the waves gave me a chance to think on a great deal of things. I returned to Houston (and eventually back home) with a refreshed spirit and mind and a renewed energy…..

…..that is, until I got sick (!!!) 😮

Hi Melisa,
The pics of Galveston look great and I wasn’t expecting to see so many tropical trees. I guess I need to take a trip there some day and see more for myself.
You are so right, our lives are filled with so many “to do’s ” that we seldom if ever take any real time for ourselves. Great reminder for all of us.
Greetings Justin — and welcome! 🙂 Galveston is stunningly beautiful! I had never been before but had heard great things and I must say, it definitely surpassed my expectations! You will love it! I must admit, I don’t get to have time to myself nearly as often as I would like, but after breaking away and spending that time at the ocean that day, I realized that I certainly need to change that part of my life and make that “me” time one of my priorities! Like you said, it was indeed a great reminder! ~Thank you so much for… Read more »
Great shots and post, Melisa! I haven’t had the privilege of visiting Galveston as of yet, but after reading this post and seeing your images; it’s now on my bucket list. 🙂 I absolutely love and miss the beach. I used to live in Virginia Beach, and I would make my way to the waterfront every chance I got. Now, being that I am in Atlanta and find myself land locked; it seems like forever since I’ve had the chance to visit one. I know it’s been at least 5 years. That’s not good at all! 😀 You’re absolutely right… Read more »
Greetings: Yes Galveston is absolutely beautiful–you will love it!! 🙂
-And you’re right: we all need to make sure we get that time in to break away from everything–no matter what kind of form it’s in! I really like your idea of the free Saturdays–I wish I could do that!! I love the beach to and, like you I’m land locked and don’t get to it that often, so it was a very welcomed change! ~Thank you so much for commenting! 🙂
Great pictures! Looks like you had a great time, which you deserve of course! 🙂
Greetings: Yes as brief as it was, I had a really good time and it was a great diversion from everything that was going on. I think that all of us need those little ‘brief breaks’ sometimes just to stay sane(as I did)!! LOL ~Thank you so much for commenting! 🙂
Looks like an awesome time you had deary – and great photos!!! I love that you left your mark…I need to do the same when I go out of town this week 🙂

Greetings:Thank you for the compliment on the photos! Yes definitely have some fun in the sand on your trip — write your name (‘leave your mark’), make castles, walk barefoot — do it all and soak in every minute! It is so relaxing and very helpful for clearing your mind–trust me! LOL ~thank you so much for commenting! 🙂
