A few weeks ago I share that I have been selected to serve as a Lead Blogger for this fall’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN) Miracle Marathon (I’m still very excited about it)! I also promised that I would share my journey and more details about who I am supporting, Freeman Health System in Joplin, Missouri. In my partnership with this amazing CMN Hospital, I have learned so much about the many wonderful ways that Freeman Health System has and continues to give children with health conditions a second chance at living a healthy and thriving life.

Freeman Health System Joplin MO is one of five Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in the country that do Direct Family Assistance. They provide families with the travel and lodging assistance they need in order for their children to receive the care they need from a Specialist in another city. Freeman Health System also assists in the payment of medical equipment (wheelchairs, braces, helmets, etc.), and prescription medication for families.

Learning about a child’s serious illness or other health condition can take a heavy toll on a parent and on the household. There is so much to think about and plan for both emotionally and financially. This is why the Direct Family Assistance that Freeman Health System provides important: just having a network of caring professionals to aid in ensuring that everything is taken care of can make a huge difference in the parents’ lives as well as the lives of the child in need.
