Everything You Need To Know Before Season 2 of DC’s Stargirl

Fans of the superhero television series DC’s Stargirl are excited to hear that the series will be returning soon. While the Covid-19 pandemic has caused some delays and timing uncertainties, most believe that the new season will be launched in 2021. A good dose of good versus evil is exactly what everyone needs right now, and here’s everything you need to know to be ready for it.

The Backstory

Stargirl, created and executive-produced by Geoff Johns, stars Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore, a Nebraska high school sophomore who finds superhero Starman’s uniform and his powerful Cosmic Staff in her basement. She later discovers that her stepfather Pat was once the superhero Stripsey, sidekick to deceased superhero Starman. Courtney puts on the superhero suit, claims the Cosmic Staff and assumes the persona of Stargirl.

In addition to Brec Bassinger as the show’s heroine, DC’s Stargirl features an all-star cast, including:

·       Luke Wilson as Courtney’s stepfather, Pat Dugan

·       Amy Smart as Courtney’s mom, Barbara

·       Joel McHale as Starman

·       Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Hourman

·       Henry Thomas as Doctor Mid-Nite

·       Yvette Monreal as Yolanda/Wildcat II

The premiere season of DC’s Stargirl featured 13 episodes. If you missed it, you can continue reading for a quick synopsis, or better yet, stream the entire season on The CW app.

The First Season

The show’s first season storyline follows Courtney’s transformation from high school student to powerful superhero. Although Stargirl wasn’t born with natural superpowers, her training as a gymnast and kickboxer make her quick and agile. The Cosmic Staff endows her with additional powers such as the ability to levitate and fly, and the power to manipulate energy and gravity.

Stargirl uses her new powers to battle villains including Icicle, Brainwave, Tigress, Sportsmaster, and the Dragon King. She and her stepdad team up to gather a new generation of superheroes. As a group, they then rebuild the Justice Society of America (JSA), which was destroyed a decade earlier by the infamous Injustice Society of America (ISA).

In the exciting season finale, Stargirl and the JSA succeed in thwarting the ISA’s evil brainwashing plot. But that’s not the end of the story. Viewers received hints that Eclipso was released, learned that The Shade is returning, and even more surprisingly, that he witnessed the resurrection of Starman!

The Second Season

DC’s Stargirl returns for Season 2 in 2021. Rather than streaming first on DC Universe and then on The CW, the second season will air exclusively on The CW. While the timing isn’t certain, it is rumored that fans can definitely expect their favorite superheroes to return by the summer or autumn of 2021. It’s believed that most of the cast members who survived the finale of Season 1 will be returning for the next season.

Season 2 will continue to develop storylines from the first season, but you can also expect to see the JSA facing off with new villains Eclipso and The Shade. Fans are anxiously awaiting to see how this plays out in the upcoming season and how the new generation of superheroes will handle it all. Starman’s return is also highly anticipated, with fans hoping that he and Courtney will work together to defeat evil.

With so much chaos in the world right now, a good dose of superhero action is exactly what we all need. While a firm release date for DC’s Stargirl‘s second season has not yet been announced, you can rest assured that it’s coming soon. In the meantime, catch up on Season 1 and prepare yourself for the coming excitement of Season 2 when the strong female lead will continue the battle to ensure that good triumphs over evil.
