Reflecting on my days of helping my mother with laundry as a child, I remember how the entire process seemed so calculated. The amount of laundry detergent used was determined by the size of the load, and how soiled the clothes were. High-odor clothing like team sports uniforms and work clothes had to be washed more than once to get the odors out.

 

My mother began teaching me how to do laundry when I was only nine years old. I hate to admit it, but my laundry regimen has been done the same way – her way—for over 30 years.

 

That’s a very long time!

 

It’s a known fact that when you do anything the exact same way long enough, it becomes a habit that can be very hard to change. Laundry is no exception. This can create a dilemma when the time comes to encourage kids to lend a helping hand with the clothing chores.

 

It can be hard to come out of those systematic, traditional ways of doing laundry, but it can also be equally challenging to get tweens and teens to embrace those older methods today – especially since times have changed so much.

 

I know firsthand because I’m currently teaching currently teaching my tween son and teen daughter my tween son and teen daughter how to help out with the household laundry chores. With summer just around the corner, I want them to be prepared to help with the increase in laundry chores due to summer outdoor activities (and dirt) that comes with it. As I was showing them what to do, it didn’t take me long to realize that they weren’t too thrilled with taking on an antiquated laundry regimen.

 

After much thought, I can’t say that I don’t blame them. Laundry is changing – and I realized that we should, too.

 

To make things go more smoothly, I needed to find a common ground between traditional and “new school” laundry methods, and for us to adopt the newer methods together. I found the perfect solution with products from Gain available at Walmart.

This is because detergent pacs like Gain Flings combine the best of liquid and powdered detergent, Oxi Boost, and Febreze freshness all in one. Since each pac is already pre-measured, there’s no need for to measure and pour like before.

 

 

 

This eliminates the worry of having the right amount of detergent every time. Simply toss them right into the washer drum before you add your clothes. This makes starting new laundry loads much faster and easier for the kids (and me, too!).

 

When my college son comes home from a long day of classes and working as a campus tour director, his staff shirts can be smelly. The same holds true for my husband’s work uniforms after coming home from a 24-hour shift of firefighting. For those moments, I rely on Gain.

 

Fireworks In-Wash Scent Booster to save the day!

Scent boosters are new products that come in handy for particularly pungent odors that need to be neutralized and every day laundry. Adding the beads in the washer drum with the Gain Fling pac before adding the clothes provides an extra boost of Gain scent that lasts all day long.

 

It’s the perfect way to get rid of odors in the clothing without jeopardizing any colors or fabrics. Now my tween won’t have to fret over our clothes coming out the wash smelling the same way they did when they went in when they assist me with the laundry.

 

While some laundry regimens change, others stay the same. I still protect my clothing during the wash cycle by using Gain Fabric Softener. Not only does it protect, it also strengthens fabrics while adding softness, all with the classic Gain scent. And to minimize static and wrinkles, I advise the kids to toss a Gain Dryer Sheet into every load they dry.
