One of the many things that I love to do during the summer months is get a jump start on back to school planning for the year that lies ahead. To me, that means more than just scheduling school physicals and keeping an eye out for bargains on school supplies, it also means finding new ways to help them achieve their academic best.
For instance, I am renovating my home right now. As things have been shifted around all throughout the house, I noticed that my kids do not have a dedicated place to do their homework separate from their rooms, which can get distracting. So I decided to create a stylish and organized space in the house for all their studying needs.
What I decided on was a dedicated homework station just for them. I created this space for under 30 dollars by taking an old table and chair from our basement storage and combining it with Dollar General home goods and school supplies – all available at great prices every day! Since I was able to get everything I needed from my local Dollar General for my DIY Homework station project, fitting it into our home renovation budget was no trouble at all! Also, putting it all together was a breeze!
Not only do the kids now have a decorative place in the house to concentrate on their homework, they also each have a dedicated bin to store all of their school supplies, class papers, and subject books. There’s even a small reference area! And since my two teens now have their own laptops and tablets, this space is perfect for them to do work on their computers, too.
The main theme home my home renovation project is comfort for everyone. No matter what we are doing around the house, my goal is for everyone to feel relaxed and inspired. That includes when doing homework, too! It was a no-brainer to create a custom DIY Homework station in the house. The kids love it, and I’m very glad that the Dollar General in my neighborhood helped me make another creatively comfortable space in my home a reality!
