Chores tend to be a sour subject in many households, and it certainly is in mine! I remember a time when persuading my four children to put their toys away and make their beds was so easy! Now as they have grown older and the chore list have become more extensive, I find myself being met with more opposition, grunts, and frowns than I am with smiles and enthusiasm. Even when I offer rewards for completing their chores completely and accurately, they still view chores as the worst thing ever.
In my soon-to-be 23 years of parenting, I’ve tried it all. I’ve tried explaining the lessons of responsibility and hard work that can be learned by doing chores. I’ve explained to them how keeping the house clean and tidy inside and out can boost their pride and confidence in their home (and most importantly, keep unwanted things like dirt, dirt, and insects out). I’ve told them how developing good habits now will carry on into their adulthood and positively impact their home and career life. I’ve even pleaded with them to do their chores as a form of expressing gratitude and appreciation for what they have. Nothing has been effective.
I even tried star charts and reward systems, but my kids just rushed through the chores as quickly as they could just to get their reward. Then, the prizes they requested each week became more and more expensive! On top of all of that, it grew increasingly difficult for me to keep up with tracking completion of the chores as our family grew in size and our lives became busier. Before long, it was all a total mess.
I had given up on tracking chores altogether, but then I found out about an app by COUNTRY Financial® which I feel can really turn things around for the kids, and for the whole family. COUNTRY Financial® is an insurance and financial company that helps people plan their financial futures.
Through their COUNTRY Financial® Security Index, a platform that measures what Americans worry about concerning finances, COUNTRY Financial® found that American’s current sentiment was the topic of teaching kids about finances through the use of chores and allowance. In response, they created the COUNTRY Financial® ChorePal App, a tool that manages daily household chores as well as a reward system.

Now instead of spending money on buying chore charts and stressing over finding time to fill them out, I can put in all of my kids’ chores in the app. From there, my kids can download the app and see all of their chores, when they’re supposed to be done, and depending on the reward system that is chosen, points or money, the kids can see how many points or how much money they earn for completing each chore. My kids can also see what rewards they are working towards to help keep them motivated.

This is so much better than how I used to do it! I love that the app provides a better way for me to encourage my kids to do their chores and talk to them about the values of hard work, dedication, consistency, and best of all, the importance of financial responsibility. Also, since can put in as many (or as few) rewards as I want with varying costs, the app can also help my kids learn the importance of making long and short term goals, which helps to make completing chores more exciting.

The COUNTRY Financial® ChorePal App is one that I wish I had many years ago! It has turned a subject as daunting as household chores into a light and fun way for my kids to keep up with their chores as well as manage their rewards. Without a doubt, I know that this app will help develop a since of appreciation and gratitude for all that they have now, and all that they earn in the future.

That is AWESOME! Getting the kids to do chores is like pulling teeth around here. They always “forget” or are “just about to do it”.
My kids are kind of reluctant to do their chores but I think with a rewards system like this app has I might be able to entice them to do a few chores! Loved this part of your post btw love that the app provides a better way for me to encourage my kids to do their chores and talk to them about the values of hard work, dedication, consistency, and best of all, the importance of financial responsibility. Not only can I see an app like this being an ideal way to encourage kids to do their chores, I love that it also focuses on goal setting and work ethic. My kids would surely put up less of a fight when they are able to keep the bigger picture in mind.
I’m expecting my first soon and apps like this is inspiring because it helps me decide on how I want to organize things for my family. Definitely will take a look at this – it’ll be too early for my baby for now haha but it could actually help with dividing chores between my husband and I.
OH I so need this app! I have tried so many different things to get the kids to do their chores and we always just forget about them because eventually it doesn’t work for us. This would really motivate them!
Now this would make things much easier. It really was difficult keeping track of who needed to do each chore sometimes.
I usually use a whiteboard for chores, but my girls always seem to find a way to skip over it. I need to start incentivizing and use this app to keep them motivated!
You had me with two words! Chores and easy! My daughter can be such a whiner when it comes to chores.
I didn’t know that there is an app like this! So cool! I definitely have to try this with my kids!
Wow! I am in love with this app! I am downloading it today and sharing with my littles!
This app sounds fantastic. I used to have such a hard time to get my kids to do chores. I will have to share this with my friends with little ones.
What a brilliant idea! This is really smart app. Kids would love and it will encourage them to do their chores.
Love this! What a really great idea, I love all these type of apps. I find them really helpful with so many kids, its great to have apps like this at my fingertips!
I wish I would have had this at a younger age! I always got left doing all the chores and there was no prize!
This app sounds super cool! I like the points and reward systems. We’re gonna try this app and see how the kids like it. They usually don’t mind doing chores but they always have to be told to do them. I really like this.
This app sounds pretty awesome. I know quite a few parents who could pass this along to their kids.
This app is really going to help with the kids. I’m sure a lot of parents will be happy about this. It makes doing chores really convenient.
Sounds like good incentive to keep the kids doing their chores. I remember my chores as a kid, they’d fizzle in and out as I needed cash, lol. This would have been way better, but of course we didn’t have apps in the stone age. 😉
My kids are really good at doing their chores, but I like the idea of this app and helping them keep track of their goals along with budgeting.
