Weekends are always a hectic time for our household, but whenever the moment presents itself, I do my best to find ways to combine scheduled events with something fun.
.
Case in point, my oldest son was scheduled to perform at City Museum St Louis a few Saturdays ago, and since all other family events had to be postponed due to a last-minute change in my husband’s schedule, I decided to make the most of our time at the Museum with the kids.
.
First up was taking in my son’s band performance. In the spirit of Halloween, they performed one of my all-time favorites:
..
..
After the performance was over, we were all set to head indoors for our Saturday adventure!
.
There are a ton of things to do at City Museum St Louis—both inside and out. It has many levels of activities—there’s even an operable ferris wheel on the rooftop!
.
There is also a plane suspended in the air to explore as well as a school bus dangling off the edge of the roof, but we stayed away from those (for now)! 😀
.
.
One inside, the design is spectacular:
.
.
The ceiling of the museum–gorgeous!
.
.
As awesome as everything looks, my youngest was apprehensive at first! 🙂
.
.
We checked out some of the sculptures of creatures there
Very beautiful!
.
.
.
.
The youngest was a little afraid of some of the creatures! 🙂
.
.
And then, for the real adventure: exploring the caves and tunnels.
The tunnels started off bright, colorful…and suspended in the air throughout the museum!
.
.
…But then, we reached the ‘caves’ and other tunnels of the museum (this sign was waiting for us there–maybe we should have turned around!) 😀
.
.
That’s my leg in the shot — yes, we 1st had to go…..down THERE (Heaven help us!!) LOL
.
.
It was super dark in the caves — Lady T said it reminded her of the movie National Treasure! LOL 🙂
.
.
.Then, we had to crawl through lots of tunnels like this
..
.
…and this
.
…and this!! (!!!)
..
.
We were beginning to wonder if we were ever going to make it out! LOL
.
. .
We made it out — Yay! 😀
.
.
We all had a really great time—and we made it out of the day without any bumps or bruises (or in my case, aches and pains! LOL). I love that the activities at City Museum St Louis are ones that parents can take part in and enjoy just as much (if not more) than the kids. I must admit that we don’t get a chance to visit there often, but when we do, it is always a memorable experience for everyone!

That museum does seem really cool. Glad you made it out of the tunnels.
Greetings Chasing Joy! Yes City Museum really is a cool place! 🙂 ~Thank you so much for sharing here with me! 🙂
How fantastic! This band is awesome! Reminds me of my days in orchestra and marching band. Good to hear great performances by our young ones 🙂
Thanks for sharing.
Greetings Florida! Thanks so much! Yes every time I hear them play I’m reminded of my own band days too! I appreciate your kind words and your sharing here with me! 🙂
You got some GREAT pics! We were there this summer, when we visited my college son who was interning with Boeing in St. Louis. He insisted on taking us to this “museum”, which isn’t really a museum, is it? It was AWESOME!!!! My husband and I enjoyed it as much as our 3 boys did! 🙂
Greetings Monica! Thank you so much! I am so glad you have experienced the fun of the City Museum with your family! I really appreciate you sharing here with me! 🙂
Love the expressions on your son’s face! I would have been a bit intimidated by some of the exhibits and sculptures too! Great photos!
Greetings Alison! Thanks so much! LOL Yes we had to really assure him that it was a going to be fun — and he had a wonderful time in the end! I appreciate you sharing here with me! 🙂
I LOVE the city museum. It is truly a gem in St. Louis. The slides are amazing for everyone. A great place to be a kid again. Looks like you all had a great time.
Greetings Val! Oh yes, I forgot to mention the slides in this one! I was ‘persuaded’ (lol) into sliding down a few of them! Yes, I agree–the museum really does bring out the kid in every adult — so much fun! ~Thank you so much for sharing here with me! 🙂
Great photos. It looks like a very interesting museum and a good place for a family outing. I must visit one day.
Greetings Christin! Thanks so much! Yes you definitely must visit the museum one day–it really is a great and fun place for the whole family! ~Thank you so much for sharing here with me! 🙂
