Can This Book Help Me Live a Better Life in Just 7 Days?

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Erik Bertrand Larssen for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hello. My name is Makeba and I suffer from FSS.

FSS = Free-Spirited Syndrome.

I’ve never been the type of person who likes being bogged down by a ton of systematic processes. In fact, routines bore me – I like to have the freedom and flexibility to do what I want, and manage my day, time, and emotions how I want to.

Free-Spirited Syndrome even affected my time in corporate America. I never really felt that I ‘fit in.’ I was never good at doing everything by the book. Even when I was on the clock, I liked to perform my job duties at my own pace. I would set my own rules. Doing so made me happy.

But things in the game (of life) have changed.

Fast-forward eight years, and my life forces me to adhere to some sort of schedule. I now drive my kids to school and pick them up every day. This responsibility requires that I figure out how to get my entire days’ to-do list completed around their schedule.

Then there’s my son’s doctor appointments and infusions to work around. And my husband’s demands have changed over the years too – he now wants my undivided attention when he’s home from work. Meals, cleaning, home shopping, working on my blog – all of this and much more is crammed into my days.

None of this works for a person who’s accustomed to marching to the beat of their own drum. 🙁

Since the demands on my roles and responsibilities have increased, I need help. Bad.

If I really want to be successful in being a wife, mom, homeowner, and entrepreneur, I have to make some drastic changes immediately.

This free-spirited person needs discipline. Not now, but right now.

To give myself a helping hand, I decided to take on a 7-day challenge called ‘Hell Week’ created by Erik Bertrand Larssen. His book of the same name gives a direct, in-your-face approach to challenging people to commit to live and experience one week of their best self.

The Hell Week challenge consists of seven rules and seven life-management themes that are all found in the book. Erik Bertrand Larssen gives some great advice on ways to incorporate exercise, time management, and meditation into the daily routine. These are all areas that I truly need help with.

It only took a brief skim of the book to know for sure that it was just right for me.

One of my summer goals is to have a consistent daily routine before school resumes. I know that it’s going to be hard, but I also know that it will be very rewarding. To me, reading Hell Week and going through its seven-day challenge is the perfect way to let go of the ‘Free-Spirited Syndrome’ for good and change to a new way of living a much higher standard!

Now that’s one interesting challenge! I’m a bit into a zigzag manner when it comes to switching between free mode and routines but I’m more of a person for the latter, I just tend to spice it up by changing the numerals at times. I’ll be rooting for you, you can do it!

This book sounds just like what I need. I need routine, but I struggle so badly making that happen.

Wow, it sounds like a great start to making life even better. I might just be suffering from FSS myself. This is a great time of year to get things back on track.
