Author James Buckley, Jr. Shares Why His Latest Book from National Geographic and ESPN is the Perfect Gift for Kids Who Love Sports

Whether you call it soccer or football, “the beautiful game” wouldn’t be the popular sport it is today without numbers.

Within the action-packed pages of It’s A Numbers Game! Soccer: The Math Behind the Perfect Goal, the Game-Winning Save, and So Much More! by James Buckley, Jr., kids will read about the many ways that digits and math are part of the exciting game, and will uncover how simple equations can help them to improve upon their very own skills.

Along the way, soccer lovers will read about many soccer greats, such as Mia Hamm, Lionel Messi, and Abby Wambach, and will use math to rack up their total number of goals, championship wins, and Olympic medals. They will even find cool graphics that show the probability that a goalie will be able to stop a penalty kick!

Equipped with an enlightening foreword by US Women’s National Team soccer star Alex Morgan, National Geographic and ESPN are building upon their popular It’s a Numbers Game! series with a new resource that will get the hearts and minds of every young soccer star pumping!

James Buckley, Jr. joined me to discuss why his latest book from National Geographic and ESPN is the perfect Christmas gift for kids who love sports.
