Music Mondays: A Reminder from Najee that You Are Never Alone

We have all experienced a time when we had gone through a season when it seemed as if we were facing the trials of life by ourselves. Family may be all around us, and friends may be just a call or text away, but none of them can fully feel or understand the depth of the emotions that are felt inside. Sometimes we know not to even try to bother them with our problems because we know that they have their own issues to deal with. The feelings of isolation and unsurety begin to overtake and overwhelm us, and we begin to believe that there is nowhere to turn, and no way that our troubles will ever end.

.

During times like this it may be difficult to remember that no matter how alone we may seem to be, we are never by ourselves in facing our life experiences, whether good or bad. Even when we feel there is no one we can turn to, there are two sources that are always constant. It is those two sources that we must seek first and foremost in times of despair.

.

First, we have our Higher Power—our Angels of comfort who are with us at all times. We have been given a promise that we would never be left nor forsaken. During seasons of sorrow, we must remember that promise and hold dear to it with all that we have. Second, we have the inner strength that has been gifted by our Higher Power—the strength that has carried us through all of the storms in our past. Sure, it has probably taken many heavy hits, but that doesn’t mean that it is any more weakened than the day that we were born with it. No matter how rough life may get or how old we get, our inner strength is always with us; never faltering, never withering away. It is right there waiting for us to rely on whenever we need it.

.

In a beautiful arrangement, we are reminded of this in jazz artist Najee’s rendition of “Someone Watching over You.” Accompanied by multi-Grammy winner BeBe Winans, this one is a song that was created to uplift the heavy heart. The smooth flow of Najee and his saxophone speak directly to the spirit, while the moving modulations of BeBe’s vocals speak to the mind. If you are ever feeling alone or troubled on your life’s journey, this song is the one to go to for an immediate source of encouragement.

Hey Makeba, This will surely be a great help to someone who’s in need of comfort. We often go through moments where it seems that no one is there to ask us, “Is everything OK?” A lot of times that’s all it really takes. But it’s important for us to realize that even those who are oblivious to the pain and despair of others, are human and sometime aren’t able to see the pain. We each carry an inner strength within us to help us through those moments you wrote about here. It’s a matter of tapping into it, and… Read more »

Greetings: Yes you are so right–many times it can be so easy to forget that “human factor” with people. We see people from a distance or only on the surface and believe that they are OK, when in reality they are really hurting inside (we just witnessed this in the media right?). In times of hurt it can be so hard, but we indeed must remember the sources of comfort that we have available to us–especially when we feel alone. It is so very important. ~Thank you so much for your kind words and I appreciate you commenting! 🙂
