This may be the most direct Music Mondays article that you will ever see, but it is coming straight from the heart. Why, you ask? Because all of the words that I want to say are in the lyrics of today’s selection.
There are a lot of disheartening events happening in society right now: from the Trayvon Martin case, to many other stories around the globe of murders, hatred, violence, bullying, and social injustice. Every single day there is something new that takes place that gives us a heavy heart and causes us to wonder if things will ever change for the better.
Yet the only way to guarantee change is for us to do it ourselves. It is up to each and every individual to be the positive change that they want to see in the world—even if it is in within their own immediate world.
We no longer have the luxury of sitting back and complaining; pointing fingers and placing the blame on others for everything that goes on. If we are unhappy with something in the world, we should step forward, take a stand, and make a real effort to actually try to really do something about it.
True leaders are not birthed in silence and inactivity—all of the greatest of leaders of the world became so through involvement and action. Through choosing not to remain hidden or silent, but instead being bold and moving on the feelings within their hearts to work for a positive change.
And we should not stop at just being the change that we want to see, but also be the compassion, the care, the kindness, the helping hand, and most importantly, the love that we want to see in the world as well. When others see our actions, it may influence them to take action as well.
Whether it is globally, nationally, locally, or even within your own neighborhood or home, every person has the power to make a difference. The choice is in our hands.
.
Positive change begins with us.
